Happy Pineapple Day!
Happy Pineapple Day!!! YAY! To celebrate, I'm revealing my Pineapple Quilt top! (click on the photo to enlarge!)
The Pineapple Quilt is a free pattern from the fat quarter shop, but it uses the pineapple pad paper! I made my quilt with Nova by Basic Grey and Kona White solid.
In case you missed my tips in my sneak peek post, here are the tips for making this quilt:
- For the larger pineapple paper, use double sided tape to help secure the fabric to the paper to prevent slipping.
- Also for the larger pineapple paper, pieces 2-5 were the hardest. Make sure they don't fold on itself and that the piece doesn't shift while sewing!
- For the smaller pineapple fabric pieces, you do not need to cut everything down to 2"x4". As long as the piece is at least that size, you will be okay! For example, cutting from a jelly roll strip, you'll get 2.5"x4". You don't need to cut it down to 2"x4", just leave it at 2.5"x4". This will help save time cutting all the fabric!
To make this quilt, you'll need the following supplies:
- 6" pineapple paper pad
- 12" pineapple paper pad
- Add a quarter ruler
- Double Sided tape (I use an Easy-Stick Double Stick Adhesive Roller)
- Fat Quarter Shop free pattern!

Now you are probably wondering why I didn't finish the quilt top. Well, I did baste the quilt and sew a 6" grid to secure the quilt, but my long arm is getting set up tomorrow! I really dislike quilting big quilts on my domestic machine and this quilt finished at 56"x74". Hopefully, I'll be able to finish up the quilt quickly! I'm actually tempted to unpick my straight line (or not so straight line in some areas) quilting out.

I’ve made one teensy (3″) pineapple block, and so far that’s all I’ve made. I have a “kinda wanta make one” attitude about them. I have the small papers, though, so maybe someday. Your quilt turned out nicely. Have fun quilting it on your new long arm!

It is gorgeous! I have not made a pineapple block/quilt. Not sure if it is ever on my list to make, but when I see them, I sometimes think I should.
