QAL by the Sea Block 4!

Block 4 is released today and I'm this week's designer!!!  What is a day at the sea without a bit of awesome sunshine!   This block uses both traditional piecing and foundation paper piecing!  Be sure to bookmark my quick links page so you have easy access to all the blocks and hosts!  You can also find the quick links page by clicking the button on the right side of my page.

I picked out 3 different yellows for the sun and the rays, a sky blue, and a black for the happy face!

Here are my top tips:

Be sure to label your pieces.  There are a lot of really tiny little pieces, so be sure to label them!

The block is assembled in columns.  Here's what it'll look like without the foundation paper pieced parts.  Be sure to pay attention to the direction of the mouth in the happy face.

Here are the supplies you'll need:

• 4 copies of the template printed at 100% (Do not scale), use the 1" block to check the sizing.
• Double-sided tape
• Paper Scissors
• Add-A-Quarter Ruler (optional)
• Normal sewing supplies (sewing machine, thread, rotary cutter, ruler, etc.)

Once you sew the block together, you'll end up with a bright and cheery sun!

Ta Da!  All finished!

Please note:  I use Payhip to manage all of my PDF patterns, even the free patterns.  It will ask for your email as it will email you a link to download the pattern.  For best results, use Google Chrome on a PC to get the download to work.  If you are having trouble, respond to the email that Payhip sends you and I'll be in touch!
