Month 7 of the Lucky Stars Quilt Along! This quilt along lasts until September and each month's post will be the first Tuesday of the month! I can't wait to see your take on this skill-building pattern! If you don't have a copy of the pattern yet, you can grab a copy from my Etsy shop or Payhip! I completely whiffed last week and missed this post since it was the start of the Destination: Quilt Along! Block 2 of that quilt along goes live in a few hours.
This month we are making a total of 7 blocks: 2 of the 18.5" blocks and 5 of the 6.5" blocks using 3 different fabrics and the background.
There are 3 areas of mastery for making these blocks:
- Modified Hourglass blocks
- We are using a different method for these blocks this month to make 4 identical ones. We'll be working with bias edges this month.
- I use Clearly Slotted Trimmers to trim the modified hourglasses before pressing them open.
- Perfect 1/4" seams.
- Since we are building on units made in previous months, you'll be able to see how much more accurate your seams are now that we are 7 months in!
- Web Piecing
- Have you mastered this yet? I love web piecing for any block or quilt in a grid pattern!
