Awesome Ocean – New WIP!

This past winter, I decided that I wanted to make the Awesome Ocean quilt by Elizabeth Hartman!  Don't mind all the other work in progress quilts that I had going on, what's one more to do?! I decided to get the new kit that used Kona solid colors and it was the second time this quilt had been kitted.  The first kit was released when the pattern was brand new and was paired with one of Elizabeth's fabric lines.

True to Elizabeth's style, there are SO MANY tiny little pieces in this quilt, but the characters are so stinking cute!

There are 9 different types of blocks within this quilt.  Each block is made 8 times in different colors to give the gradient effect down the quilt!  Hopefully, I'll be able to finish this quilt sometime in 2022.  (Goals... right?)

Here's what I've completed so far...

Octavian - probably my favorite block in the quilt.

Kelp - check your seam allowances with this one!  It has a ton that will cause the kelp to end up the wrong size!

Puffy

Angelica

I love how all the blocks are turning out! But this quilt will take me all year to finish!  Each set of 8 blocks is taking me several hours to complete. Similar to the North Stars quilt where each block took about 4 hours to complete!

I am starching the heck out the of the background since it's using Essex Linen.  The starch is so helpful to make sure that the fabric isn't stretching all over the place.

Have you made Awesome Ocean before? How did you motivate yourself to finish it?
