This month’s Aurifil Artisan Challenge is to make a project with 40wt thread. The 40wt thread is slightly thicker than the normal 50wt thread that I use for quilting and it’s quickly becoming one of my favorite threads to sew bags. I picked some faux leather vinyl and quilting cotton for the lining to make a Luz Marina from Oro Rosa Patterns.

I finished the Trailblazer Convertible Backpack this last Saturday! It took another 3 hours to complete, to make a total time of about 7 hours from start to finish for the bag.

Last Saturday, I streamed making the Fun Bobby Backpack by Sincerely Jen Patterns! I didn’t finish it because I didn’t have the properly sized rivets to go through the straps to secure them which halted my progress. Fortunately, I had rivets arriving this week for me to finish the rest of the bag off stream.

I am really excited that this crazy year is coming to an end, but I also want to celebrate just how far I’ve come with making bags. Bag Day was started because I love making bags and never really took the leap to learn how to be successful at making them. I owned plenty of patterns but never really made any of them.
