#365DaysOfArtPBQChallenge Week25, Exercises 169-175
It's Week 25 of the 365 Days Of Art Challenge! One more week until I'm halfway done with the book. I was flipping back through the beginning parts of the book and I can see the improvement, so that's pretty cool! Sometimes it's hard to keep going when you don't think you are moving forward!
If you haven't started yet, no worries! The link up at the bottom of the post will be open all year so be sure to check back to see what other fellow creatives have made with this week's exercises. Read more about the challenge and catch up on all the previous weeks!
Without further ado, here are my 7 for this week… the good, bad, and ugly!
#169 Add patterns to the bowls. I think these types of exercises at the beginning of the book were pretty difficult for me to figure out what I wanted to do. I have now gotten to the point where I just start drawing and doodle in the bowl. Sometimes I have a plan, other times it's improv drawing!
#170 Draw one thing that made you happy today. This cutie is my stuffed animal that has traveled with me during the last 5 years. He's pretty cute in real life even though the fur is now super matted down and he needs a bath (badly).
#171 Draw three things you ate today, from memory. I put labels on the items so you knew what I was trying to draw! The Mackintosh toffee is a Canadian toffee that is so addicting! I drink a cup of coffee every morning, so obviously I drew a cup. Then I drew what I had for lunch... a burrito bowl from Chipotle. How in the world do you draw a burrito bowl?! Seriously it's just a bunch of ingredients dumped into a bowl. So ta-da! >_<
#172 Telephone doodle. Call someone up for a chat and doodle away. This is the second telephone doodle exercise, and I thought using color would be really fun. I enjoyed this more than just pencil doodling. Plus I got to color some of the doodles in.
#173 Fill this quarter with your favorite color. My favorite color is usually a tie between green and blue. Today it was green! I tried to do some motifs and lots of echoing to fill the page. I also realized when I colored in the peacock looking thing that I didn't have enough green that contrasted to really accent each row. I think this is something to consider when quilting too... leaving a blank space for the design to breathe.
#174 Find a window in your house where you can sit comfortably and look out. Draw what you see. You can focus on one part of a scene, such as a lamp post or a neighbor's door. I decided to focus on our neighbor's window. I found it to be an interesting shape and thought it was neat that the exterior of the house just framed the outside edge of the window. You could see the interior frame though so I drew that in as well.
#175 Shade the apples in different colors. I started this exercise with colored pencils first. Then I went to watercolor when I ran out of ideas. I really do love playing with watercolor, the blending of colors is a lot of fun. Whenever I get more time I would love to take a watercolor class on Skillshare or something similar.
Now that we've all had a good chuckle and/or grimace, I encourage you to join in the fun and expand your creative horizons too!

It’s obvious that you are more comfortable with what the book throws at you now. Your drawing are much more relaxed. The bowls look great with all the variety. I would encourage you to take a watercolor class. You’d enjoy it with the tips they give, etc. and it’s relaxing!
You are really progressing with this! I love your phone doodles.
Your doodles are just great, and the bowls have such character! I’m glad you’re coming up with ideas faster, clearly the practice is paying off?
