#365DaysOfArtPBQChallenge Week 30, Exercises 204-210

It's Week 30 of the 365 Days Of Art Challenge!   This week had some really fun exercises and I am so impressed with myself!  If you haven't started yet, no worries!  The link up at the bottom of the post will be open all year so be sure to check back to see what other fellow creatives have made with this week's exercises.  Read more about the challenge and catch up on all the previous weeks!

Without further ado, here are my 7 for this week… the good, bad, and ugly!

#204 Challenge yourself today.  Draw something you struggle with. Tackle it by simplifying it.  Perhaps focus on the block shapes and key features rather than an outline.  I am absolutely terrible at drawing people, but I thought people would be very difficult to have block shapes.  When I do draw people, I tend to have their arms behind their backs because hands are so hard!  I realized that I am even worse at drawing hands!  So I decided to draw my left hand as I'm right-handed.  One of the things that I did differently this time was looking where the curvatures of my hand aligned with other parts.  Even though my hand is not perfect, I am so pleased with this!  After I was done, I put my hand over the drawing and it was a match! The drawing actually had the knuckles a little too close to the fingertips, but other than that it was perfect! Then I realized I have a weirdly shaped hand.

#205 Add plants to the pots. This was a fun exercise.  I really should take watercolor classes, it's very enjoyable.  The two cactus plants are my very favorite!

#206 Fill this section with smiley faces.  This was fun doodling and I even added a few emoji type smiley faces.  This also reminded me that I used to draw smiley faces with eyebrows, a nose, and a tongue sticking out!  I drew two of those, can you spot them?

#207 Draw an object using colored pencils or pastels.  Use this colored background as a mid-tone.  Use light colors to draw the highlights and darker colors to draw the shadows. I don't think I fully understood this exercise, but I drew my TV that sits on our table with the shadow behind it.  I realize that I used the light color to actually draw the outline of the TV rather than the highlights.

#208 Write or draw something you saw or heard today which inspired you, and sparked an idea.  This didn't really spark an idea, but it's definitely inspirational.  This quote is actually from Octopath Traveler, a video game, that my husband has been playing.  It's a great quote and definitely one to remember.

#209 Color in. I understand the allure of adult coloring books. This exercise was so enjoyable!  I liked that some of the spaces were already filled in and I just had fun adding bright colors to the page.  Plus who doesn't love flowers?!

#210 Design the pattern on the lampshade. This exercise was also super fun.  I used loops in both directions to create the blue ribbon candy by coloring the background black.  I loved making the green arrows too.  This is definitely something that I could see quilted or in a quilting design!

Now that we've all had a good chuckle and/or grimace, I encourage you to join in the fun and expand your creative horizons too!
