#365DaysOfArtPBQChallenge Week 45, Exercises 309-315
Week 45 of the 365 Days Of Art Challenge! Happy Veteran's Day! Thank you to all the veterans out there for your service. Very much appreciated! I can't believe we are quickly approaching the holidays already and I am almost done with the book! It's so neat! Without further ado, here are my 7 for this week… the good, bad, and ugly!
#309 Draw or doodle within the grid lines. This was a super fun exercise. I started out doodling a flower and then kept adding to the doodle. I ended up with something that I'm pretty proud of and feel like I should try to free motion quilt it. I think there would be quite a bit of overstitching in areas, but I don't really think that would matter for this piece.
#310 Fill the page with pebbles. I used watercolor as the base of the pebbles and then decorated or embellished them with color pencils. I'm never really sure what extra creativeness I can throw into rocks. But this was fun, and I only inked through on one of the pebbles, which I consider a win and an improvement over inking through all the pebbles!
#311 Spend some time shading today. Using the techniques you have learned, shade this colorful vase. So I didn't really use specific techniques learned from this book. I used mixed media with markers and color pencils, then treated the exercise as a simple coloring one. It was relaxing and I like how it turned out!
#312 Design patterns for the jumpers (sweaters). I should not quit my day job to design sweaters. I don't have enough ideas to do this and then I started thinking about ugly Christmas sweaters. Can you pick out the one that is inspired by ugly Christmas sweaters?
#313 Draw a map of a journey you have recently taken. This is the route that I took last weekend. I started out in Kansas City and few to BlizzCon in Anaheim... decided that taking the red-eye to Houston was a great idea. By the way, it was not a good idea... I am still recovering from the lack of sleep in the days following the red-eye! After Quilt Market, I flew to Minneapolis for a layover prior to returning home! That route looks like a heart, I thought that was pretty symbolic of the trip. Even though I got super tired, it was definitely worth it!
#314 Design a tile. I should have read this as design a quilt block, but instead I kept thinking of the Instagram videos I see of people design tiles! I spend too much time just watching people hand glaze tiles with glaze bottles filling in lines and spaces by hand. I then attempted to design a tile based off of what I remembered from videos. I think it turned out pretty neat regardless of the unevenness.
#315 Use this rough guide to draw a face in profile. Most often the eyes are halfway between the top of the head and the chin. Study the side of someone's face. Notice where the eye, ear, and hairline are. Add in eyebrows too, and the shape of the nose and lips. I actually used my own face and felt where my ears ended in reference to other parts of my face. I think it actually turned out pretty close to the correct proportions. Drawing hair is still not a strong suit for me.

You are doing so great with these! I love the floral design and it may have a lot of overstitching, but you can use a finer thread – that helps sometimes.
