#365DaysOfArtPBQChallenge Week 44, Exercises 302-308
Week 44 of the 365 Days Of Art Challenge! Happy Sunday of Fall Quilt Market... I'm currently on the red-eye to Houston from the west coast. Oh yeah, I really wanted to go to Houston for at least a day or so. The link up at the bottom of the post will be open all year so be sure to check back to see what other fellow creatives have made with this week's exercises. Read more about the challenge and catch up on all the previous weeks!
Without further ado, here are my 7 for this week… the good, bad, and ugly!
#302 Draw an object so that it fills the whole page. I drew my glass clock that I made a few years ago at Louisville Glassworks with fused glass. It just so happens that today the clocks fall back, so make sure your clocks are set to standard time as daylight savings in the US is over!
#303 Add rain to this grey sky. Think about how you could represent the raindrops. Are they lines? Individual dots? I decided on a combination of lines and dashed lines. I realized that it was hard to not have a "ground" on the page... so I drew one!
#304 Draw a bowl of food. Anyone know what I tried to draw? Spiral noodles of mac and cheese! It seems a bit... interesting... and doesn't really look like mac and cheese! Oh well.
#305 Create a pattern using a black fineliner pen. This was really fun. I should doodle more often. This was a fun little spiral of free motion quilting doodles. I think it was great to help me think on my feet to see how all the lines should continue to keep going! I need more practice to get better at thinking about free motion designs.
#306 Continue the pattern until the page is filled. This was really fun, the little bumps on the bottom of the page were printed, and I added green and blue bumps with watercolor. The whole time I was drawing the bumps I thought I should try to quilt this over a quilt. How cute would these little bumps be on a quilt?! I actually just remembered they are called clamshells, haha! Clamshell quilting would be cute, I need to try it.
#307 Cut or tear strips of colored paper and use them to create your own abstract sea image on the opposite page. Is it a calm or choppy sea? I found some scrapbooking paper in my stash of crafting supplies and created a crazy sea. Some of the waves are vertical! This was less fun than it looked for me, but I think it turned out better than I thought it would have with torn paper.
#308 Calligraphy practice: use the opposite page to try numbers. I think this one turned out great! This was the first time that I tried numbers. I copied the "9" style from the printed page because normally my 9s aren't curly. I think all but the number 4 look great!
Now that we've all had a good chuckle and/or grimace, I encourage you to join in the fun and expand your creative horizons too!
