Quilt Designer’s Shop Hop!
Welcome to Day Two of the Quilt Designer Shop Hop! What is it? It's a group of 10 different quilt pattern designers who got together and, under the theme of "moving forward, separate but working together and inspired by life under quarantine," created 10 different 12" finished blocks.
These blocks are all available to you for the length of the hop! Blocks will be available for free download through Saturday, July 18th. AFTER July 18th, blocks will be available for purchase from the individual designers at a cost of $2.00 each. So you'll want to grab the blocks while you can!
My block is Star Compass. Quarantine has been a time of reflection and following my heart (like following a compass). The block is 100% paper pieced and can be mistaken for a star as well. I'm not the most creative when naming my patterns or blocks!
I used Diamond Dust fabric from Windham, and the silver in the fabric really shines!
It was really fun to make a setting with all the designer blocks. I decided to use duplicate blocks to make a fun quilt! This quilt top will measure just shy of 51" square. With blocks on point, the finished dimension is not a whole number.
You will need to cut the following from background fabric:
- Three (3) - 18-1/4" squares, cut on both diagonals for the setting triangles
- Two (2) - 9-3/8" squares, cut diagonally once for the corner triangles.
- Four (4) - 12-1/5" squares
Lay out the blocks, setting the triangles in the layout. Sew each diagonal row of blocks together, then sew the rows together.

I downloaded your block; it’s a pretty one, and I’m terribly tempted to toss everything aside and make one today; we’ll see! (By the way, when I click on Laura’s link, it appears to be broken).
