Aspen Crossbody Bag
This past Saturday was Bag Day! I finally made the Bag of the Month Club's September pattern, the Aspen Crossbody by Emmaline Bags. It turned out lovely!
For this bag, I used some custom alcohol inks fabric from Kammie Lou Lou and some Eggplant cork from Fabric Funhouse. The front of the bag has a hidden zipper and the back has two slip pockets.
The top of the bag has a recessed zipper and there is an interior zipper pocket and an interior slip pocket as well.
If you were to make this pattern, I would suggest that you increase the seam allowance as you get to the bottom of the bag for the lining. The pattern doesn't call this out and the lining is just a bit too big for the bag. The other modification I would make is to actually make the recessed zipper open on one side rather than use 2 zipper tabs. Otherwise, the pattern went together pretty quickly. All the pieces are rotary cut, so there aren't any templates to cut out!
Pattern: Aspen Crossbody by Emmaline Bags (part of the Bag of the Month's latest club)
Fabric: Alcohol Inks by Kammie Lou Lou
Cork: Eggplant from Fabric Funhouse
Strap Hardware: By Annie 1" Nickel hardware
Zipper tape, zipper pulls, rivets: Sallie Tomato - Black tape with Nickel hardware
Thread: Aurifil 50wt 2581 (dark purple) and 2024 (white)
I am super excited to be planning next year's bags for bag day and I already have a list longer than 12, so I'll be making a lot more bags next year!
