Fall Into A QAL – Finished Quilt Top
I'm so proud to present my finished quilt top! I added basic sashing and a border to my quilt blocks! I used yellow and orange sashing and cornerstones to keep with some beautiful fall colors!
Whenever there is sashing, having cornerstones will make sure the quilt gets aligned properly. My quilt finishes at 49"x63".
Here are my finishing instructions:
Adding Sashing:
Cutting:
Sashes - Cut 31 - 2.5"x12.5" strips
Cornerstones - Cut 20 - 2.5" squares
Sew Cornerstone - Sash - Cornerstone - Sash - Cornerstone - Sash - Cornerstone together to make a horizontal row. Press seams to the cornerstone. Make 5.
Sew Sash - Block - Sash - Block - Sash - Block -Sash together to make a horizontal row. Press seams towards the sashing. Make 4.
Sew the rows together as desired and press seams in either direction.
Adding Borders:
Cutting:
Cut 6 - 3"xWidth of Fabric
Sew the strips together with a diagonal seam to make one long strip.
From that long strip:
Cut 2 - 3"x58.5" for the side borders
Cut 2 - 3"x49.5" for the top and bottom borders
Sew the side borders on the quilt and press seams to the borders.
Sew the top and bottom border on the quilt and press seams to the borders.
Ta Da! Finished quilt top!

Nice and simple! Often times the simple method means it will get done and a finished quilt is better than an unfinished one. Goodness knows, I have lots of those. Your grunge fall quilt is gorgeous!! All around great choice of colors for all the blocks and borders.
