Bag Day moving forward
I am really excited that this crazy year is coming to an end, but I also want to celebrate just how far I've come with making bags. Bag Day was started because I love making bags and never really took the leap to learn how to be successful at making them. I owned plenty of patterns but never really made any of them.
These are just a few of the many bags that I've made this year and I've progressively made harder and harder bags as 2020 went on.
So what are the biggest lessons that I've learned?
- Not all bag patterns are made equally. Just like quilt patterns, there are some patterns that are just BAD and hard to follow whereas others can make complicated bags super easy!
- My Juki can't sew 4 layers of faux leather from Sallie Tomato. It was the first time that I struggled to get fabric through my machine and I really wanted an industrial sewing machine!
- I love making bags!
Therefore, I've decided to continue Bag Day into 2021! I'll be streaming on my Twitch channel on the first Saturday of every month and will make a different bag each time! I don't have the full schedule determined yet, but I do have a list of patterns that I plan on making for 2021! Notice that this is MORE than 12 patterns and therefore we'll end up with some bonus bag days throughout the year! I also joined the Bag of the Month club from January through March and will have even more bag patterns to add to this list!
From Bagstock Designs (my favorite bag pattern designer):
- Trailblazer
- Meraki
- Amara
- Bellezza
From Blue Calla:

- Celosia Crossbody
From RLR Creations:
- Teddy Backpack
- Percival Laptop Case (JANUARY'S BAG DAY!)
- Marichel Hobo
- Mina Crossbody
From Swoon Patterns:
- Bonnie Bucket Bag
- Della Wallet
Other Designers:
- Zenaida Backpack by Oro Rosa
- Apollo Game Bag by Sew Much Magic Patterns
- Cargo Duffle by Noodlehead for Robert Kaufman (this was a kit I purchased from Craftsy YEARS ago thinking it was SUPER hard, but now I just need to make it!)
If you'd like to sew along, I only have the paper templates printed and cut out when I start my stream. To protect the designer's copyright, I do not give any measurements on stream and you will need to purchase the pattern from the designer if you'd like to make your own! Pretty much you'll learn any tips I may have for the pattern and also see me struggle if the pattern is difficult!
Are there any bag patterns you want to make?
Sew along with me THIS Saturday on my Twitch channel with the Percival Laptop Case!

Bags always seem hard. I’ve made the Cargo Duffle, but I’ve used the tutorial by Michelle @ Bolt to Beauty, where she shows how to make a lining. I don’t think I could have made the duffle without her tutorial. Good luck with bag day.
