2018 Planning Party

Yvonne at Quilting Jet Girl is hosting this year's planning party! I figured this would be a great way for me to detail out my goals for the upcoming year.

2018 Planning Party

Looking back through my blog posts for my 2017 goals, the only tangible goal I documented was releasing 4 patterns this year.  I'm happy to say that I achieved that goal, and I would like to be a lot more detailed in my goals for 2018. I will be doing a final count of what I was able to finish in 2017 as I get so much sewing done between now and the end of the year.  It's what happens when I am finally on vacation from work!

Powered By Quilting Goals:

  • Release at least 4 full patterns this year, so approximately once a quarter.
  • Blog 3 times a week
    • Tuesday/Friday/Sunday every week!
  • Updated:  Complete every exercise in the 365 Days of Art Book.  I even created a challenge to complete this!
  • Submit a design to magazines/publication once a month.
    • I need to embrace the rejections and get used to putting myself out there.  You'll never get published unless you submit!
  • Submit 3 quilts to QuiltCon 2019.
  • Submit a quilt to the Minnesota State Fair.

Personal Sewing Goals:

  • Make an Ombre Gems quilt with Confetti fabric.
  • Make a Sew Together Bag (finally!).
    • Really make more bags in general.
  • Sewing more fabric than I buy.
    • Honestly, this is probably not going to happen, but I at least want to make a conscious effort to stop hoarding!
  • Intentional Free Motion Quilting practice on a regular basis.
  • Learn new techniques and add play into my sewing/quilting.

Personal Fitness Goals:

  • Run/Walk 6+ miles a week.  (2x a week for 3miles)
  • Lift 2x a week.
  • Yoga once a week.

Mental Goals:

  • Be kind to myself.
  • Understand that I am doing the best I can right now.
  • Don't get caught up comparing myself to others.

My accountability partner?  YOU, my readers!  You probably didn't realize you play an important role in keeping me on track!  So I'd really like to thank everyone who reads my blog and cheers me on.  I really try to be responsible and complete what I say I will do each week, so you'll see my plan each Friday for the upcoming week at the end of the Friday Foto Fun posts.

  1. I think you’ve planned out your year well. You have some very attainable goals for 2018. Are you still planning to work your way through the creativity book? I’m getting ready to pull mine out on the 1st!

YES! Thanks for reminding me to specifically call that out on my list! I added it! I can’t wait to do the challenge, it’s going to be a blast. I realized that Amazon has been sold out of the book for a while, but they finally have some in stock come January. So I’m glad you already have your copy!

  2. Congratulations on getting 4 patterns released this year, and I hope that you find a lot of joy as you approach your making in 2018. Having a goals list really helps me focus on if I can say “yes” to a new opportunity. Thank you so much for linking up!

Thanks Yvonne! It’s been really great learning so much from the blogger group this year and I love following you! Thanks for hosting the link up! <3

  3. I love that you include health and fitness goals in your list! I love to hike and should have included that in mine, along with my weight loss goal. Congratulations on your pattern releases.

Thanks Carole! I realized if I didn’t include health and fitness goals, I’d just not do anything! >_< Those goals are actually the ones that will be hardest for me to keep. eeeek.

You’ve got a great set of goals for 2018. Wishing you lots of success in 2018.

  5. Kathlee McCormick says:

Sherry, these are great goals! I am going to get a hold of that book and casually follow along. I think it might be fun! Did some looking around and it really is nowhere to be found – how odd. My fitness goals could be added in too, may think about that!

Thanks Kathleen! The book is pretty great! It’ll be fun just to pick and choose the exercises you want to do. I can’t wait for it to start!

The fitness goals are actually the goals I am most worried won’t keep >_< Hope you are having a good holiday!
