QAL by the Sea Block 3!

I picked out an assortment of primary colors for the flags and a blue for the water.

Here are my top tips:

For the cut flag (the one that uses the template),  I cut the square and then used the template to trace only the notched part.

For the yellow flag with red stripes, I attached the fusible on the back of the red fabric before I cut my strips.  Then, I used my Fusamat to iron all the strips in place.

To mark the "rope" lines on the background, I used a LEONIS pen.  This is my favorite water soluable pen!

I can't stress this enough, but use monofilament thread! This will prevent all the crazy thread changes you'll need for this block.  Be sure to use REGULAR thread in the bobbin, the monofilament is only for the top thread.  Make sure to adjust your tension so you can't see the bottom thread on the top.  Once the raw edges have been appliqued, square up the block to 12.5".

Ta Da!  All finished!
