The Great Outdoors Blog Hop + Giveaway!
All of the Island Batik Ambassadors are participating in a 5-week blog hop! Today is Day 3 and my day to share my project from my "SURPRISE" fabrics from our first ambassador box that we received in February! You can check out my unboxing video here.
My surprise fabric line is Canterbury Manor! This is such a beautiful bright rainbow fabric line! I love color so much and I was able to incorporate ALL prints into my quilt project.
The best thing I find about the great outdoors is the amazing view of all the stars at night. I used my July Monthly Color Challenge block and made 9 blocks with black as my background color to act like the night sky. Each of the stars is made of 2 different prints. The diamonds are made from a multicolored print and I waited to get all of the bits together to make sure the multicolor was spread out across the quilt.
I ended up adding a 2 inch border around the entire outside of the quilt to get the 20th fabric of the line into the quilt.
For my batting, I used a cotton wool blend from the Hobbs Tuscany collection. The batting was light and easy to work with. I spray basted the quilt and picked a rainbow of different Aurifil thread for quilting. This quilt has so many color changes and I love it! I used my walking foot to outline each of the stars and draw stars inside the diamonds.
The quilt finished at 40" square. I love how bright this quilt turned out and it's a great baby quilt size!
So what's a blog hop without a giveaway?!
I am giving away four (4) 5" rolls of Island Batik fabric. Each roll contains 4 different fabrics that are 5" by width of fabric. The giveaway is open to US residents only. The giveaway is open until the end of the blog hop at 12am Central Daylight Time on September 5, 2018.
Be sure to visit all of the other Island Batik Ambassadors to see their projects!

One of my favorite things about being outdoors is all of my gardens. Vegetables, flowers, frogs and my chickens running around them.

I’m having trouble leaving a comment on your site, so I’m going to try once more. Love your quilt; those vibrant colors are so pretty!
I love the colors and scents of the great outdoors
Gorgeous quilt. Love the colors against black, and you did a great job with the corner units to mix and blend. So pretty! I love the trees, lakes and the stars.
I love it! It’s really fun.
Wonderful quilt. The outdoors is relaxing and inspiring.
What a beautiful quilt. The colours look so rich on the background – starry night sky, indeed!
I live in the country so that’s easy the trees, the birds and yes at night we see the stars.

Your Island Batik star quilt is gorgeous against that black background! Thanks for sharing your talent AND your fabric in the giveaway!!
Your quilt is stunning. The black background makes all the color more vibrant. I love everything about the great outdoors. The feel of the sunshine on my skin, the scent of honeysuckle in the air, the feel of the grass under my bare feet, the feel of the gentle breeze as it blows through my hair, but mostly I love the communion with God as I take in His handiwork.
I love those bright stars against the black background. It’s fantastic.
Beautiful quilt! Love the stars!
